Harveys Brewery was central to my arrival here. My studio was in Lewes and on a brewing day, the smell would engulf the whole town. The river Ooze feeds the brewery. The surrounding farms and oasts supplied it too. Here I’ve crowned the Brewery in fireworks, and the marching troupes of Bonfire Night give it a circulating, time-never-ending theme.
The Mayor of Lewes at the time opened this exhibition and bought the original of this painting to add to his own personal collection. For the rest of his time in Office it hung in the Corn Exchange. The are limited edition artist’s prints available for sale here.
